About the role

You will be preparing, cooking and presenting a wide variety of nutritious foods on time that are suitable for children aged 4 months to 6 years for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, including the preparation of purees and special dietary meals. You will engage in menu planning, in accordance with the centre's nutrition policy and guidelines, including catering for children with allergy, intolerance and religious requirements. You will work in line with budgets and local suppliers. You will maintain a clean and safe kitchen, in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present a wide variety of nutritious foods suitable for children aged 4 months to 6 years for breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea

- Prepare purees and special dietary meals

- Engage in menu planning in accordance with the centre's nutrition policy and guidelines

- Cater for children with allergy, intolerance and religious requirements

- Work in line with budgets and local suppliers

- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen in accordance with Food and Council Authority requirements

- Provide a barista service to families

About you

- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery preferred but not essential





- Current food handling certificate or willingness to obtain

- Current blue card, approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma qualifications

- Experience with menu planning and nutrition

- Previous experience running a kitchen, cooking in childcare or similar catering environment

- Reliable, positive and well organised

- Excellent time management skills and confident in managing a kitchen
