The Opportunity:
Work locally in the South Burnett and apply your mechanical trade qualifications and skills in a full-time position managing the workshop at the family-owned Pakaderinga Feedlot near Kingaroy.
The position will include leading the workshop team to achieve the reliable servicing and repair of feedlot plant, equipment, vehicles, heavy machinery, trucks, farming and irrigation equipment and workshop facilities and tools.

Scope of the Role:
The duties of the Workshop Manager will be diverse and include:
- Lead the team through hands-on involvement in the daily workshop duties.
- Allocate and coordinate servicing, diagnosing, repairs, fabrication and breakdown response jobs.
- Manage and coach the team to promote skills development, accountability and high-quality workmanship.
- Liaise with the Feedlot Manager regarding planned maintenance schedules and repairs to minimise work disruptions and downtime.
- Closely manage preventative maintenance schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Prioritise projects based on safety, animal welfare and operational impact while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Manage machinery maintenance records and documentation using GEARBOX
- Analyse and use maintenance data to maintain continuous improvement in all workshop-related decision-making.
- Manage the workshop tools and parts inventory and ensure appropriate stock of critical items.
- Engage, coordinate and monitor approved specialist contractors.
- Ensure compliance with the NHVAS requirements relevant to the fleet and workshop functions.
- Ensure adequate risk assessments are conducted.
- Manage workshop chemical and hazardous-goods storage, safety information, waste oil and other workshop wastes
- Ensure compliance with all site safety standards.
The Successful Applicant:
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- Trade Qualifications as a Diesel Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or other relevant mechanical trade qualifications.
- Minimum current heavy vehicle driver licence.
- Current Forklift licence.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Servicing, diagnosing and repair experience of diesel-powered plant, heavy machinery, vehicles, trucks, trailers and agricultural equipment.
- Experience planning preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns.
- Ability to lead and manage staff in a practical operational work environment.
- Sound computer skills for managing maintenance software, work orders, service records, inventory control, parts ordering and reporting.
- Sound understanding of NHVAS and workshop safety requirements.
- Availability to coordinate or assist with major breakdowns outside of normal work hours if required.
- Proven organisation, time management, problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a family-operated business and adapt priorities to changes in operational needs.
Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants also able to offer any of the following:
- Welding, fabrication or boilermaking skills / qualifications.
- Experience in feedlot, agricultural, transport or other high-dependency operating environments.
- Experience supervising apprentices and developing trade staff.
- Experience with GEARBOX or other similar software.
The Employer:
Pakaderinga Feedlot is a 6,000-head, family-owned and operated cattle feedlot in the South Burnett region approximately 25 km north-east of Kingaroy.
