S26 SMP Supervisor - BHP Shutdown

CGC Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced S26 SMP Supervisor to support a major BHP shutdown project in Port Hedland.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SMP Supervisor to join a major mining project, overseeing mechanical, structural and piping works during a significant shutdown program.
The Role:
You will be responsible for supervising SMP construction and shutdown activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising SMP construction and shutdown activities
- Coordinating subcontractors, trades and site personnel
- Managing daily work fronts and ensuring activities remain on schedule
- Ensuring works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements
- Liaising with project engineers, construction management and the client
- Monitoring productivity, quality and safety across the work fronts
- Conducting pre-starts, toolbox meetings and daily coordination activities
- Identifying and resolving construction issues as they arise
- Supporting shutdown planning, execution and commissioning activities
- Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and within required timeframes
Project Scope:
The project involves significant infrastructure replacement and upgrade works at a major BHP facility in Port Hedland.
The SMP scope includes:
- Major mechanical equipment replacement and installation
- Structural and mechanical installation works
- Installation of trunnions, drives, locking pin assemblies and associated equipment
- Dust enclosure and associated mechanical works
- Compressed air system upgrades
- Supporting electrical and instrumentation upgrade works
- Multiple planned shutdowns and outages
- General civil works supporting the broader project scope
- Commissioning, staged handovers and completion activities
What We're Looking For:
We are seeking experienced SMP Supervisors with a strong background in major construction, mining or resources projects.
Ideally, you will have:
- Current S26 statutory appointment
- Strong SMP supervision experience
- Previous experience on major mining, minerals or iron ore projects
- Tier 1 contractor experience highly regarded
- Previous BHP, Rio Tinto or Fortescue experience advantageous
- Strong mechanical and structural construction knowledge
- Shutdown experience highly regarded
- Ability to lead multiple work fronts and subcontractors
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure shutdown environment

- Client: BHP
- Location: Port Hedland
- Roster: 2:1 FIFO
- Hours: 12-hour days
- FIFO: Perth preferred
- Fly-in: Tuesday AM, travelling directly to site
- Fly-out: Tuesday PM
- Rate: Approx. $100 per hour, dependent on experience
- Start: Candidates with a current Port Hedland S26 Appointment can commence 15 September
- Alternative start: Candidates without a current Port Hedland S26 Appointment will need to commence 1 September to allow time for the appointment process
- Duration: Through to 21 October
