About the role
You may have never considered becoming a Loss Adjuster.
But the professional skills you already have may be exactly what we are looking for.
LKA Group is seeking experienced professionals who have built strong investigative, technical, legal, insurance, construction or analytical skills and are interested in developing a new career in liability loss adjusting.
This is not a graduate or entry-level position.
We are looking for people who already bring substantial professional capability. We will teach the specialist liability loss-adjusting component.
Your current career might be in:
• Commercial, property, strata or construction loss adjusting
• Insurance claims or technical claims
• Insurance building assessment
• Building consultancy
• Plumbing
• Building or construction
• Construction management
• Engineering
• Building surveying or inspection
• Quantity surveying
• Estimating
• Insurance or fraud investigation
• Private investigation
• Insurance litigation
• Construction law
• Liability or personal injury law
• Claims advocacy
• Restoration or property damage
• Another technical or professional field with genuinely transferable skills
Your exact job title is less significant than what you can already do.
The skills we value
We are interested in people who can demonstrate:
- strong professional judgement and practical common sense;
- investigation and questioning skills, with a natural willingness to keep digging when something does not add up;
- ability to assess evidence, identify what is missing and work out what needs to be obtained next;
- clear, concise written communication;
- confidence dealing with different people, difficult conversations and competing versions of events;
- analytical thinking and problem-solving ability;
- ability to understand technical information;
- sound commercial judgement and the confidence to make decisions;
- professionalism, objectivity and independence;
- initiative,
organisation and the ability to take ownership of their own work; and
- curiosity, persistence and a genuine willingness to learn a new specialist discipline.
What does a liability loss adjuster actually do?
You will learn to investigate claims involving property damage, personal injury, defective work, trades, construction and other liability matters.
That includes:
- establishing what actually happened;
- interviewing insureds, claimants and witnesses;
- gathering and testing evidence;
- attending sites;
- reviewing contracts, photographs, reports and quotations;
- understanding negligence, causation and liability;
- assessing technical and expert evidence;
- assessing claim quantum;
- identifying other responsible parties;
- preparing reports and recommendations for insurers;
- negotiating outcomes; and
- managing claims from instruction through to resolution.
What could a typical week look like?
No two weeks look quite the same. You might attend a site and speak with an insured one day, interview witnesses the next, review photographs, contracts or expert evidence later in the week, and then bring everything together into a clear recommendation for an insurer client.
We will teach the specialist part
LKA is developing a practical internal Liability Training Program specifically to develop people into competent liability adjusters.
Training will include:
- structured learning;
- worked claim examples;
- investigation exercises;
- progressive simulated claims;
- report writing;
- evidence and expert analysis;
- supervised real-file experience; and
- progressively greater responsibility as competence is demonstrated.
You will not simply complete a course and be handed a caseload.
The pathway is progressive. You will begin with structured training and supervised investigations, then move into your own liability files and increasingly complex matters as your capability develops.
Why consider LKA?
LKA is an established specialist loss adjusting and investigation practice with a strong technical focus. We want this to be a genuine long-term career pathway, not simply a short course followed by a caseload.
- structured internal liability training and supervised development;
- direct access to experienced adjusters and senior technical support;
- exposure to a broad mix of liability, construction, personal injury and technical claims;
- direct involvement with insurer clients as your capability develops;
- genuine flexibility in how and where you work, where appropriate; and
- a pathway toward independent file handling, specialist work and more senior adjusting roles.
Who this opportunity is for
This opportunity may suit someone who has reached a point in their existing profession where they want:
- a new intellectual challenge;
- less physical work;
- greater use of their existing technical or investigative knowledge;
- a professional career with variety;
- greater autonomy;
- exposure to insurance, law, investigation and technical problem-solving; or
- a career where experience from another profession is genuinely valuable.
We are not looking for someone with no professional foundation simply because they are willing to learn.
We are looking for experienced people whose existing skills can be developed into excellent liability loss-adjusting capability.
Competitive remuneration will reflect your existing professional experience and transferable expertise.
If you are an experienced professional and this sounds like a career you may never have considered before, we would like to hear from you. All enquiries to Ashley Mayne 0422 304 ***
