About the Role
As Telrex continues to expand its telecommunications infrastructure, technical support and field operations, the company is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Field Engineer to join its Loganholme team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The position will support telecommunications network planning, design, deployment, installation, configuration, commissioning, testing, maintenance and fault resolution across customer sites and telecommunications facilities.
The role combines practical field engineering with network planning and technical support and will involve working with telecommunications infrastructure, network equipment and associated systems in enterprise and carrier-grade environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design and support the implementation of telecommunications networks and associated infrastructure.
- Assist with network planning, equipment selection, deployment and infrastructure upgrades.
- Install, configure, integrate and commission telecommunications and network equipment.
- Conduct site inspections and assess telecommunications infrastructure, equipment and network requirements.
- Perform network testing and evaluate the performance of telecommunications networks and associated equipment.
- Diagnose,
investigate and resolve complex telecommunications, network, hardware and connectivity faults.
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure and equipment.
- Configure and test network equipment in accordance with technical specifications, network requirements and project documentation.
- Support telecommunications network deployments, upgrades, expansions and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, specifications and equipment documentation.
- Investigate recurring network performance issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Monitor network performance and assist with network optimisation and improvement activities.
- Provide technical advice and support to customers, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with technical stakeholders, equipment suppliers and contractors to resolve network and equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate technical records, service reports, testing results and commissioning documentation.
- Attend customer sites, telecommunications facilities and other field locations as required.
- Travel to other locations from time to time in connection with customer and telecommunications infrastructure projects.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in the telecommunications industry, including experience in network planning, network implementation, field engineering or related technical roles.
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Telecommunications Network Engineering, ICT/Networking or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Demonstrated practical experience in telecommunications network installation, commissioning, testing and fault finding.
- Experience configuring, testing and troubleshooting telecommunications and network equipment.
- Sound knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure, data networks and network connectivity.
- Experience with telecommunications network planning, implementation or design will be highly regarded.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, network diagrams, equipment specifications and technical documentation.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
- Recognition by Engineers Australia in a relevant engineering occupation is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a technical team.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Current White Card.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- CCNA and/or CCNP certification will be highly regarded, or willingness to undertake relevant certification.
