Xray Newstead is seeking an experienced and Accredited Medical Sonographer to join our team on a part-time basis. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a progressive medical imaging facility based in Newstead, Tasmania 7250. As an Accredited Medical Sonographer, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services to our patients. Key responsibilities
- Performing comprehensive ultrasound examinations across multiple anatomical regions, including abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular and musculoskeletal imaging
- Operating and maintaining ultrasound equipment to the highest technical standards, ensuring optimal image quality and diagnostic accuracy
- Liaising with referring practitioners and patients to understand clinical requirements and ensure appropriate imaging protocols are followed
- Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records and imaging documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Adhering to all relevant health and safety protocols, including infection control procedures and radiation safety standards
- Contributing to a collaborative clinical environment by communicating findings with medical staff and supporting the diagnostic process
- Continuing professional development to maintain accreditation and stay current with advances in ultrasound technology and clinical practice
- Ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures, with a focus on delivering compassionate care
What we're looking for
- Current ASAR (Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine) accreditation or equivalent recognised qualification as a Medical Sonographer
- Extensive experience in performing a broad range of ultrasound examinations in a clinical setting
- Strong technical proficiency with ultrasound equipment and image acquisition techniques
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, medical practitioners and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated commitment to professional standards, patient safety and high-quality diagnostic imaging
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions whilst maintaining qualified accountability
- Current knowledge of relevant Australian healthcare regulations, standards and best practice guidelines
- Professional approach to continuing education and a commitment to maintaining and enhancing clinical skills
