The hands-on work that keeps Launceston liveable
You'll be part of the crew that keeps Launceston's streets, parks and public spaces clean, secure and ready for the community every day. Working across City Operations, you'll operate specialised cleansing vehicles and equipment and keep an eye out for hazards as you go. It's hands on, outdoors and genuinely useful work, the kind that makes a visible difference to how our city looks and feels. You'll be backed by a close-knit team that takes safety seriously and looks out for each other.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Carry out day to day cleansing and waste management duties across our streets, parks and public spaces
- Operate and maintain specialised cleansing vehicles, plant and equipment to a safe standard
- Identify hazards, respond to incidents and help build a strong safety culture across the team
- Take part in the after hours on call roster, helping keep council services running during emergencies and severe weather
About You
We are looking for someone who demonstrates, through behaviour, an alignment and an understanding of Our Values and has the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Sound understanding of workplace safety, with the ability to identify and respond to hazards and emergencies in an operational environment
- Excellent customer service skills, including confident conflict resolution and problem solving
- Practical knowledge and application of waste management principles
- Ability to work one weekend per month
- Current Class MR driver's licence, or the ability to obtain one
- Holder of a Construction Industry White Card, and willingness to undertake Hepatitis A/B immunisation given the nature of the work
