Work on the Vehicles That Keep WA Mining Moving
New Rental is one of Western Australia's fastest-growing providers of mine-spec light vehicles, buses and light trucks to the mining, civil and infrastructure sectors.
Based in Welshpool, we supply and support mine-spec vehicles for many of Australia's leading mining, civil and infrastructure companies. As our fleet continues to grow, we're looking for a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our Workshop and Maintenance Team.
This is not a role where every day is spent carrying out the same basic servicing. You'll work across a varied fleet of new and used vehicles, with a strong focus on Toyota Hilux, LandCruiser, Prado and HiAce models, as well as mine-spec buses, light trucks and specialised vehicles.
From scheduled servicing and complex fault diagnosis through to electrical repairs, accessory installations and mine-spec modifications, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of your work and develop a broad range of skills.
If you take pride in doing things properly, enjoy solving problems and want to join a growing business where good people are trusted and valued, we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Working closely with our Maintenance and Operations Teams, you'll help ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable and ready for our customers.
You'll be responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing vehicles throughout every stage of the rental cycle, including pre-hire preparation, preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and off-hire inspections.
You'll work on a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems and assist with accessory installations and mine-spec vehicle fit-outs. You'll also communicate vehicle condition, repair requirements and expected completion times clearly to the wider team.
This is a permanent,
Perth-based opportunity to join a growing company with a modern and expanding fleet.
What You'll Do
Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance across our vehicle fleet.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
Complete repairs to engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and driveline systems.
Conduct pre-hire, off-hire and vehicle condition inspections.
Troubleshoot faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
Install accessories and complete mine-spec vehicle modifications and fit-outs.
Identify warranty-related issues and coordinate repairs with manufacturers and dealerships where required.
Provide clear advice to the Operations Team regarding vehicle condition, repair requirements and expected completion times.
Maintain accurate job cards, service records and repair documentation.
Ensure all work is completed safely and to a consistently high standard.
Assist with breakdowns and be available for occasional on-call work when required.
About You
We're looking for a qualified mechanic who is honest, reliable and takes genuine pride in their work.
You'll be comfortable working independently while also contributing to a close-knit team in a busy and growing workshop.
You'll also have:
An Australian-recognised Light Vehicle Mechanical Trade Certificate.
A current Motor Vehicle Repairer's Certificate.
Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-diagnosis skills.
A current unrestricted Australian manual Driver's Licence.
Your own hand tools.
Full Australian working rights.
A strong commitment to workplace safety.
Good communication,
organisation and time-management skills.
The ability to take ownership of jobs and see them through to completion.
Experience working with Toyota 4WDs, particularly Hilux and LandCruiser models, is highly advantageous.
Experience with mine-spec vehicles, accessory fitting, heavy equipment, Ford or Mitsubishi vehicles will also be viewed favourably.
An air-conditioning licence, forklift ticket and EV or hybrid vehicle training are advantageous but not essential.
What We Offer
A competitive base salary of $80,000-$95,000 plus superannuation.
A permanent, full-time Monday-to-Friday role based in Welshpool.
The opportunity to work across a varied and expanding mine-spec vehicle fleet.
A mix of servicing, diagnostics, repairs and vehicle fit-out work.
Ongoing training and career development opportunities.
A high level of trust, responsibility and ownership over your work.
A supportive and collaborative Workshop and Operations Team.
Genuine long-term career opportunities within a growing Western Australian business.
