About the role:
As the Water Quality Manager, you will lead the water quality function and play a key role in protecting public health and maintaining high-quality drinking and recycled water outcomes across our region.
This is a 12-month contract opportunity where you’ll provide technical expertise, regulatory advice and strategic direction across water quality management. You’ll lead the development, governance and continuous improvement of Unitywater’s Drinking Water Quality and Recycled Water Management Plans, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements and deliver the required levels of service to our customers.
Working collaboratively across planning, project delivery, operations and maintenance, you’ll influence decisions and provide expert advice on complex and emerging water quality issues. You’ll also build strong relationships externally, representing Unitywater with regulators, Queensland Health and other public health agencies.
About you:

- Degree in engineering or science, with a major in chemistry, microbiology or a related discipline applicable to drinking water quality
- Significant experience in the water industry, with a strong understanding of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) and relevant water quality legislation
- Demonstrated experience managing drinking water quality systems and/or microbiological or chemical water quality across large distribution networks
- Proven experience managing regulatory and statutory compliance and resolving complex water quality issues, incidents and risks
- Highly developed communication,
negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence regulators, senior leaders and technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing scientific or engineering teams, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
- HACCP training, or a willingness to undertake this training; experience in recycled water management will be highly regarded
