About the Role
As Mayfield continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced HR Advisor to become the key People & Culture contact for our WA operations.
Based in Henderson, this broad HR generalist role serves as the primary People & Culture representative for our WA operations and is an integral part of the national People & Culture team.
Reporting to the South Australia-based HR Operations Manager, you will work closely with local leaders while partnering with the broader South Australia P&C; team to deliver consistent people practices, frameworks, and initiatives across the organisation. Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees on a wide range of people matters, you will provide practical, commercially focused HR advice and support across the employee lifecycle.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role requires strong judgement, initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to changing business needs while maintaining close alignment with national People & Culture objectives and priorities.
Duties
- Acting as the first point of contact for managers and employees on a wide range of people matters in WA.
- Partner with WA leaders to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice, ensuring people decisions align with business objectives,
company values, and employment legislation.
- Manage employee relations matters including performance management, disciplinary processes, grievances, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations, ensuring fair, timely, and compliant outcomes.
- Coach and support managers in people and performance management, building leadership capability and fostering a positive and accountable workplace culture.
- Manage key employee lifecycle activities including onboarding, probation reviews, contract changes, transfers, promotions, and offboarding, while supporting recruitment and workforce planning across WA operations.
- Provide advice on Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, employment contracts, HR policies, and employment legislation, identifying and mitigating people-related risks.
- Support organisational change, restructures, workforce planning, and national People & Culture initiatives, ensuring consistent implementation while addressing local business requirements.
- Analyse workforce trends and HR data, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and collaborate with People & Culture, Payroll, Finance, Health & Safety, and operational teams to improve HR processes, employee experience, and service delivery.
About You
You will be an experienced HR generalist who enjoys being close to business and building trusted relationships with operational leaders.
You will be comfortable working autonomously as the key P&C; contact in WA but equally enjoy being part of a collaborative interstate team.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Minimum 5 years HR Advisory experience.
- Completed tertiary studies in Business Management or Human Resource Management
- Demonstrated HR Advisor/generalist experience.
- Strong employee relations and performance management capability.
- Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Strong coaching, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with operational, manufacturing, engineering or industrial workforces would be highly regarded.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving capability.
- Confidence working across geographically dispersed teams.
- A collaborative and continuous improvement mindset.
