About the role

In this position, you will execute both complex instrumental analyses and routine wet chemistry testing. You will play a critical role in maintaining stringent quality standards, ensuring data integrity, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

Key responsibilities

- Operate, calibrate, and maintain advanced analytical instrumentation, specifically ICP-OES (for major minerals and trace elements) and Nutrient Analyser.

- Perform foundational water quality testing, including pH, Conductivity, Turbidity, Hardness, and Alkalinity.

- Prepare and log samples, standard solutions, and reagents accurately in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

- Interpret analytical data, perform quality control checks (evaluating bias, precision, and recoveries), and accurately enter results into the system.

- Strictly adhere to laboratory quality systems (ISO 17025/NATA frameworks) to ensure data compliance and validity.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all WHS guidelines.

- Perform general administration duties (filing, data entry, processing) and general maintenance tasks as instructed.

About you

- Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Laboratory Techniques, or a related scientific discipline.

- Proven hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting ICP-OES and/or Nutrient Analyzer in a commercial or research laboratory setting.

- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control practices, method validation principles, and data integrity.

- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to organise tasks to meet deadlines.

- Valuable written, verbal,



and interpersonal communication skills with a strong work ethic.

- Ability to work predominantly on your own, as well as part of a technical team.

- Must hold a manual car driver's licence (or be willing to obtain one within the probationary period).

- Must be fit and healthy, and prepared to work occasional nights, early mornings, or weekends if required.

- Desirable: Prior experience with routine water chemistry tests (pH, EC, titration methods).
