Stevens Cargo Services is the supplier of specialised machinery to the bulk shipping industry.The Australian owned & operated family company was established in 1990 and operate nationwide.
The Trades assistant role is essentially a hands on role.
Located in Lytton, this position will provide cleaning and maintenance to machinery used in the unloading of bulk vessels at the Fishermans wharf and Pinkenba terminal.
Ensuring all machinery, namely, Grabs, Hoppers, Tractors, forklifts, Generators, service vehicles, etc. are cleaned and serviced at all times in accordance with the high company standards.
Rotating on call roster when vessels are being unloaded.
Please note, this role requires a current driver's licence.
Applicants hourly rate will be determined based on Skills, Qualifications and experience.
Duties:
Cleaning Machines at the workshop.
When rostered, being on call when required to provide support to all vessels using Stevens equipment.
Lubricating and cleaning equipment.
Carry out minor repairs when required
Preventative Maintenance.
operate forklifts, (if licenced)
washing down of machinery between vessels
servicing between and during shipping operations,
refuelling, servicing hydraulic systems and diesel motors (dependent on applicants previous experience)
Setting up Machinery for operations.
liaising with staff and contractors in the port.
load / unload machinery from truck
Essential qualities for the role include:
Have a strong work ethic and are self-motivated
Mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience preferred.
Good computer knowledge
Able to work a rotating on call roster when vessels are in port.
Forklift and EWP licence helpful but not a requirement.
Can multi task and enjoy being part of a team
Ability to work unsupervised
Attention to detail
Adaptable to work weekends and out of hours when ships are working.
Requires Police checks for MSIC card
Qualification / Experience:
Have valuable oral communication skills
Ability to pass drug and alcohol check at all times.
Ability to travel (infrequently)
Skilled and positive attitude
Ability to demonstrate a level of analytical and problem solving skills.
Physically fit and able to do manual work
