Due to ongoing business requirements, we are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team on a full time basis.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and project specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
Select, prepare, measure and clean metal stock for fabrication.
Cut and shape steel and other metal sections using hand tools, flame cutting equipment and cutting machines.
Bend, form and shape steel sections and pipes using hand and power tools and heating techniques.
Align and position metal components accurately using measuring instruments and fabrication equipment.
Join metal components using welding, bolting and riveting techniques.
Inspect welds, joints and fabricated components to ensure accuracy, strength and required quality standards.
Perform grinding, polishing, filing and other finishing processes.
Fabricate,
assemble and repair structural steel components and other metal products.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a safe and organised working environment.
Skills and Experience
The successful applicant will have:
Relevant trade qualification in metal fabrication, engineering fabrication or a related field.
At least 1 year of relevant work experience in metal fabrication or structural steel fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
Practical experience with fabrication, welding, cutting and metal-forming equipment.
Robust attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
Valuable understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
