Role Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern based in Canberra to support the installation, commissioning, testing, and remote monitoring of our HVAC and integrated energy pilot systems. This is a hybrid role , combining occasional in office work with remote monitoring and technical support.

Responsibilities
Assist with HVAC system assembly, installation, and commissioning.
Support hydronic piping layouts, component selection, and system integration.
Participate in field testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Work with EEVs, solenoid valves, pumps, sensors, and other HVAC components.
Monitor pilot systems remotely and review temperatures, energy use, alarms, and equipment status.
Identify faults, abnormal behavior, and performance issues.
Perform basic remote troubleshooting and resets where required.
Maintain commissioning records, test results, and issue logs.




Support testing of control strategies and system improvements.

Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field .
Positive understanding of mechanical engineering, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid systems.
Familiarity with CAD tools.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Comfortable with hands-on work and occasional travel to Canberra pilot sites.

Preferred
Experience with HVAC, heat pumps, hydronic systems, refrigeration, or thermal storage.
Familiarity with sensors, controls, PLCs, Raspberry Pi, Modbus, or data analysis.
Interest in cleantech, energy storage, and grid-interactive technologies.

Work Arrangement: Canberra-based hybrid internship. In office attendance is required when needed for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or system checks. Most ongoing monitoring and analysis can be performed remotely.
