Looking for a new grad role where you’ll have experienced vets around you while you find your feet? This full time small animal position on the NSW/Victoria border offers structured one-on-one mentoring, robust nursing support and a four-day working week.

You’ll join a privately owned practice with nine veterinarians and 17 permanent veterinary nurses who are qualified or studying towards their qualification. The veterinary team includes ANZCVS members in small animal internal medicine and small animal surgery, providing plenty of experience to draw on as you develop your skills.

The new graduate program includes one-on-one coaching with an experienced practitioner, along with opportunities to work with a wide variety of small animal species and wildlife. You’ll be encouraged to develop your individual interests, with support available as your confidence grows.

There is no sole charge or after-hours work initially. When you’re ready, you’ll gradually join the shared after-hours roster, with experienced veterinary support available for as long as required. The roster currently averages less than one night per week and around one weekend every six to seven weeks. Calls are externally triaged, and vets are contacted for urgent cases only,

up until 10pm.

Full time vets work a four-day week and receive time off after weekends worked. The negotiable remuneration package includes payment well above Award, all overtime paid, additional after-hours remuneration, four weeks of annual leave and one week of paid study leave.

There’s also a $2,500 annual continuing education allowance, VIN, practice CVE and current graduate AVA membership, plus contributions towards veterinary registration and radiation licence fees. Staff discounts and access to a confidential Employee Assistance Program are also provided.

Clinical resources include digital radiography, ultrasound, an extensive IDEXX in-house laboratory, videoscopes, video otoscopes, Tono-Pens and multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring with capnography.

Living on the NSW/Victoria border offers plenty to enjoy outside work. You’ll be within easy reach of the snowfields and wine regions of north-east Victoria, with opportunities for water sports, horse riding, bushwalking and other outdoor activities. The area also offers cafés, restaurants, sport, festivals and cultural activities.
