Head of IT Portfolio - Multiple RolesMelbourne CBDCirca $250,000 package, including superannuationLarge ASX // 3 days in office, 2 from homeA major ASX-listed essential services organisation is seeking two to three high-calibre Heads of IT Portfolio to lead the end-to-end delivery of technology initiatives across assigned business units.
Reporting to the GM of Projects, each role will partner closely with the leadership teams of approximately one to three business units, shaping technology roadmaps and taking ownership of projects from initial concept, prioritisation and business case development through delivery, operational handover, and benefits realisation.The RoleEach Head of IT Portfolio will oversee a portfolio valued at approximately $10-$15 million per business unit and lead a fluctuating team of approximately ***** FTEs, including Project Managers, Analysts and technical delivery resources.
Key responsibilities include:Partnering with Business Unit leaders to understand strategic priorities and shape the supporting technology roadmapManaging demand, pipeline prioritisation, portfolio planning, and resource capacity across assigned business unitsDeveloping project scopes, investment proposals, and business cases to secure fundingSupporting commercial bids and tenders by providing realistic technology scope, estimates, delivery models, and timelinesInitiating approved projects and establishing clear scope, governance, budgets, delivery frameworks,



and success measuresLeading the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent technology initiativesProviding leadership and direction to Project Managers and multidisciplinary technical delivery teamsManaging portfolio budgets, resource forecasting, dependencies, risks, and delivery performanceActively intervening to resolve delivery issues and return challenged projects to greenHolding vendors, system integrators and software providers accountable for contractual and delivery outcomesProviding clear portfolio reporting and advice to senior business and technology executivesEnsuring projects progress through appropriate governance and delivery stage gatesOverseeing go-live, hypercare, and the effective transition of completed initiatives into operational supportWorking closely with the central PMO to maintain consistent delivery standards and portfolio visibility.About YouYou will be an accomplished enterprise IT Portfolio Manager, Head of Delivery or Senior Technology Delivery leader with experience managing complex portfolios within one or more of the following sectors:UtilitiesTelecommunicationsAsset or infrastructure managementTransportMining and resourcesYou will also bringProven ownership of enterprise technology portfolios from strategy and initiation through to operational handover.Experience managing portfolios comprising multiple concurrent and interdependent projects.Strong financial management capability, ideally overseeing technology portfolios valued at $10 million or more.Experience leading teams of approximately ***** people, including Project Managers and technical specialists.Demonstrated capability in demand management, pipeline governance, prioritisation and resource planning.Experience developing business cases, investment submissions and delivery roadmaps.Robust commercial experience managing vendors and different delivery arrangements, including fixed-price and time-and-materials engagements.The ability to build trusted relationships with senior Business Unit leaders and translate operational priorities into practical technology outcomes.A hands-on delivery style, with the confidence to step into challenged projects and resolve complex blockers.Strong executive communication, portfolio reporting and stakeholder management skills.Nice to haveProject or portfolio management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, P3OExperience supporting technology components of major commercial bids or client-facing service contractsExperience operating within a federated enterprise or complex multi-business-unit environment.Featured jobsFeatured jobsHead of IT PortfolioService Stream Limited28d agoEvolution Specialists2d agoDirector of Technology Strategy & ArchitectureETE Group Pty Ltd21d agoResearching careers?
