Waminda is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation committed to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal women and their families.
Guided by our Cultural Framework, Balaang Healing Framework, and Model of Care, we deliver culturally safe, holistic, and community-led services.
We are seeking passionate and experienced Midwives to join our Minga Gudjaga Midwifery Program.
This role offers the opportunity to provide continuity of care and work alongside women, families, communities, and multidisciplinary health professionals to achieve positive maternal and child health outcomes for Aboriginal women and children.
About the Role
As a Midwife, you will:
Deliver culturally safe, evidence-based maternity care across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal continuumCoordinate multidisciplinary care and support women and families through pregnancy and early parentingProvide maternal and infant health education, including breastfeeding, attachment, nutrition, and early childhood developmentConduct child health assessments, NSW Health Blue Book checks, and developmental monitoringDeliver services in community settings, including clients' homes and outreach locations throughout the Shoalhaven regionCollaborate with internal programs, health professionals, hospitals, and community partners to ensure integrated and wraparound careSupport the ongoing development of the Birthing on Country and Midwifery Group Practice initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current registration as a Registered and/or Endorsed Midwife with AHPRAA minimum of three years' experience as a midwife in a hospital and/or community-based settingDemonstrated understanding of continuity of midwifery care across pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal periodStrong communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working in culturally diverse environmentsUnderstanding of Aboriginal culture, family structures, and communities, with a commitment to culturally protected practiceAbility to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary teamCurrent NSW/ACT Driver Licence
