Every call, every walk-in,



every referral begins with you.
You will engage, screen, assess, and guide young people aged ***** into the support they need - whether that is within headspace or across the Gympie community.You will move confidently between conversations, assessments, risk management, and care coordination.
No two days will look the same, but every day will carry purpose.Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with clinicians, GPs, allied health professionals, and local partners to ensure young people don't just access support—but the right support.What You'll Be DoingYou will create robust, genuine connections from the very first interaction, ensuring young people feel safe, respected, and understood.Your work will include:Responding to enquiries and being a key point of contact for young people, families, and referrersConducting bio-psychosocial assessments using the headspace frameworkIdentifying needs, priorities, and risks, including suicide and safety risks and taking appropriate actionDeveloping clear, practical plans to support young people and reduce riskCoordinating referrals both within headspace and to local Gympie servicesSupporting young people through the intake process and ensuring smooth transitions into careParticipating in case discussions, team meetings, and ongoing service improvementMaintaining accurate clinical documentation and contributing to a high standard of careThis role requires both pace and presence, the ability to manage competing demands while still making each young person feel like they matter.Why Gympie MattersGympie is more than a location; it's a community where connection is everything.

You know how to ask the right questions, even in challenging moments, and you bring confidence when assessing risk and making decisions.You connect easily with young people from all backgrounds and can adapt your approach to meet them where they are - whether they are overwhelmed, unsure, or just beginning to seek help.You are organised, responsive, and able to work in a fast-moving environment while maintaining quality and care.
Most importantly, you are driven by purpose and the opportunity to make a real difference.What You BringA relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or similarAppropriate registration, membership, or working toward this in your fieldExperience in intake, assessment, or mental health supportStrong understanding of youth mental health, trauma-informed care, and risk assessmentAbility to confidently assess and respond to complex presentationsExcellent communication skills and the ability to build trust quicklyKnowledge of, or willingness to build connections within, the Gympie service networkCurrent driver's licence, Working With Children Check (Blue Card), and eligibility for required checksYou will be part of a team that genuinely cares, about young people, about each other, and about doing the work well.
