Property Services and Maintenance OfficerStaines Memorial College | Redbank Plains, QLDPart-time | Term-time only | Student Welfare TeamJoin a team that supports a mission with purpose.Staines Memorial College is seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to support the social, emotional, behavioural and spiritual wellbeing of our students.Working as part of the Student Welfare Team, you will provide timely, informed and therapeutic support to students while partnering with families, College staff and external allied health professionals.If you are passionate about supporting young people, integrating Christian faith with qualified practice and helping students develop their character and wellbeing, this is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to our mission to "Transform Lives".
This is a part-time and term-time only role.About the RoleAs the College Counsellor, you will provide professional counselling, pastoral care and wellbeing support to students across the College.You will:Respond to students' social, emotional and behavioural wellbeing needsProvide appropriate therapeutic care and supportOffer Christian guidance and encouragement to students, families and staffSupport students experiencing escalating behaviours to develop more positive ways of respondingWork collaboratively with the Student Welfare Team and other College leadersLiaise with families and external allied health and support servicesCase-manage students and maintain accurate, confidential recordsContribute to wellbeing programs, activities and professional learningThis position reports directly to the Director of Character and Culture and works closely with the Student Welfare team.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide authentic,



appropriate and timely counselling support to studentsMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and wellbeing practicesSupport the character development of students and help them recognise and develop their individual strengthsWork with College leaders to respond effectively to student wellbeing needsCoordinate referrals and connect students with internal and external support servicesOrganise and support activities and experiences that strengthen student wellbeingManage appointments, case notes, follow-up actions and other administrative requirementsProvide relevant professional development and wellbeing education to staff and studentsParticipate in staff meetings, professional development and clinical supervisionMaintain professional, ethical and confidential counselling practicesFollow College policies, safety procedures and the Staff Code of ConductTo view the full Position Description, please click here.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will:Be a person of Christian faith and integrityUphold the College's Mission, Vision and Statement of FaithBe an active participant in a local Christian churchHold relevant qualifications and experience in counselling or a related fieldDemonstrate a strong understanding of student wellbeing and therapeutic practiceEnjoy working with children and young peopleCommunicate sensitively, clearly and professionallyBuild positive and effective relationships with students, families,



staff and external providersExercise sound professional judgement and maintain appropriate confidentialityDemonstrate patience when supporting people with differing needs and abilitiesBe highly organised and able to manage appointments, case notes and follow-up actionsBe committed to ongoing professional development and clinical supervisionHold or be eligible to obtain a current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)Applicants must be:an Australian Citizen ora permanent resident orhave an appropriate permit to work in AustraliaDesirable Skills & ExperienceExperience providing counselling or therapeutic support to children and young peopleExperience working within a school or education environmentKnowledge of contemporary student wellbeing and engagement practicesExperience in student case management and referral coordinationAbility to develop and deliver wellbeing programs or professional learningMembership of, or eligibility for membership with, an appropriate professional associationExperience working within a Christian organisation or ministry settingWhy Join Staines Memorial College?
