For many young people, reaching out takes courage and meeting the right person at that moment can change everything.headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services to young people aged *****.
We're here to make it as easy as possible for young people and their families to access support for challenges impacting wellbeing, with care that is welcoming, respectful and age‐appropriate.We're looking for an Intervention Worker who shares our values and wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people in the Toowoomba community.The purpose of the Intervention Worker role is to effectively engage, screen, assess, refer, provide interventions and coordinate care for young people aged ***** who contact or are referred to headspace.As one of the first points of contact, you'll build positive, trusting relationships with young people and where appropriate, their families and friends, helping reduce distress and guide them toward the right support.You'll bring strong assessment and clinical skills, including the ability to identify and respond to complex risk, develop action plans to mitigate risk, and work collaboratively with the clinical care team to support safe and effective outcomes.This role is embedded within a multidisciplinary team, working alongside:Core clinical staffContractor clinicians (GPs and Allied Health Practitioners)Consortium partners delivering mental health, physical and sexual health, vocational and educational supportsNon‐clinical workers and community servicesTogether, you'll deliver holistic, integrated, youth‐centred care that responds to each young person's unique needs.About YouturnThe individuals, families and communities we support are at the heart of everything we do at Youturn.

youth‐centred care that responds to each young person's unique needs.What you'll be doingBe a welcoming, youth‐friendly first point of contact for young people seeking supportConduct comprehensive bio‐psycho‐social, risk and AOD assessmentsDeliver brief psychological interventions for mild to moderate mental health concernsCoordinate care and referrals tailored to individual needsDevelop and implement action plans to manage and mitigate identified risksPresent and discuss cases as part of regular clinical supervision and care team meetingsProvide support through centre‐based, outreach and telehealth servicesWork closely with community and partner services to ensure integrated careParticipate in community engagement and youth‐led initiativesContribute to trauma‐informed, culturally aware, strengths‐based practiceAbout youYou're compassionate, grounded and confident building rapport with young people.
You value early intervention, teamwork and reflective practice.You'll bring:Degree qualifications in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Mental Health NursingRegistration as a Mental Health Counsellor or Psychotherapist (ACA Level 3+ or equivalent), or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant clinical mental health field (e.g. Master of Family Therapy, Master of Addictive Behaviours)Strong skills in assessment, risk management and therapeutic interventionA trauma‐informed, youth‐centred approachAbility to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teamsA current driver's licence and Working With Children CheckAbout youYou're compassionate, grounded and confident building rapport with young people.
