Mackay Regional Council | Infrastructure Planning | Level 7 ($118,872 – $130,539)Traffic & Investigations CoordinatorMackay Regional Council | Infrastructure Planning | Level 7 ($118,872 – $130,539)Public Sector People are proud to partner with Mackay Regional Council to recruit a Traffic & Investigations Coordinator.Whether you're already leading a small technical team or you're an experienced Traffic Engineer, Transport Planner or Civil Engineer ready to take the next step, this is an opportunity to move into your first formal leadership position within one of Queensland's fastest-growing regional councils.If you've been waiting for the opportunity to step beyond technical delivery and begin leading people, influencing decisions and helping shape the future of a growing transport network, this could be the role you've been looking for.The OpportunityReporting to the Executive Manager Infrastructure Planning, you'll lead a small team responsible for traffic investigations, operational traffic management, heavy vehicle access, road corridor governance and transport compliance across the Mackay region.Importantly, this role isn't about having decades of management experience.It's about finding someone with strong technical capability, sound judgement and the desire to lead.You'll be supported by an experienced leadership team who are committed to helping the successful candidate continue to develop as a leader while building on the technical experience they've already gained.This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move from Senior Engineer or Senior Technical Officer into a leadership role without losing the technical aspects they enjoy.What You'll Be DoingYou'll coordinate a broad range of operational and strategic traffic functions including:Leading traffic investigations and operational traffic managementReviewing Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and Traffic Guidance Schemes (TGS)Managing heavy vehicle access and road corridor approvalsProviding technical advice on traffic engineering and transport planningSupporting road safety initiatives and transport investigationsLeading and mentoring a small technical teamWorking closely with internal stakeholders, developers, consultants and the communityHelping improve how traffic services are delivered across the region.Who We're Looking ForWe're deliberately keeping an open mind.You might currently be working as a:Senior Traffic EngineerTraffic EngineerTransport PlannerCivil EngineerTraffic Operations EngineerRoad Safety EngineerDevelopment EngineerTransport Planning OfficerTraffic Management EngineerSenior Technical OfficerProject EngineerCorridor Management OfficerRoad Network EngineerEqually, you may already be supervising a small team and be looking for a broader leadership opportunity.Candidates from local government, Transport and Main Roads, engineering consultancies, infrastructure contractors and the private sector are all encouraged to apply.You Don't Need to Tick Every BoxIf you have strong traffic or transport experience but haven't yet managed a team,
