The position is co-responsible with the Pastor, Principal and other Catholic lay leaders for the evangelising and catechising mission of the Church within an educational context.
Reporting to the Assistant Principal of Liberal Arts, the Leader of Learning: Music plays a vital role in ensuring that the SCS values of empathy, excellence, truth, curiosity and collaboration are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community.The Leader of Learning is responsible for leading schoolwide excellence in pedagogical, curriculum or operational practices and supporting continued growth in the area of specialisation.
The Leader of Learning is an exemplary practitioner who builds the capacity of staff, either teaching or non-teaching, to enable excellent student outcomes.Major AccountabilitiesThe Leader of Learning: Music (K-12) is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools' mission and vision to know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learningsupporting the leadership of a school-wide culture of excellence,
informed decision-making, and collaborative practiceworking with the leadership team and other stakeholders in implementing a range of improvement strategies to ensure effective strategic changeactively promoting the integration of Catholic values in the area of subject matter specialisationleading and cultivating a contemporary learning culture of ongoing growth and improvementleading professional learning, working with staff within the local context to support the coordinated development of student skills and opportunitiesdeveloping and implementing effective and evidence-based professional practice to build capability across the cohort of accountability and specialisationensuring team and individual staff performance and goals are achieved and aligned to strategic school and system prioritiesproactively seeking opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the area of specialisation within the local context and broader system and identifying areas for growthensuring accreditation, compliance and governance accountabilities are met in the area of accountability and appropriately reporting outcomes and risksleading the application of best practice standards, processes, learning and evaluation and ensuring the alignment to centralised strategy and governancecontributing to a 'network approach' that promotes the reciprocal benefits of school system partnerships in the specific curriculum area.Key DutiesSt Mary's has a strong and rich tradition of music that is reflected in the extensive curricular and co-curricular programs on offer at the College.

In this position, your primary duties will include:demonstrating and leading exemplary, innovative and evidence-based real-world learning practice in selecting, organising, evaluating the content and delivering learning and teaching programs in the area of Music, including the College's Integrated Learning Programworking collaboratively with the Leader of Learning Pathways and Partnerships in leading, developing and regularly evaluating strategic, mutually beneficial relationships with key community stakeholders for the purpose of enhancing student learning in Musicoverseeing the Instructional Leader of Music Yrs 5-8 in the implementation of the Amadeus Program and liaising with SCS staffleading and establishing the College's co-curricular music program (including the instrumental program, lunchtime and out of school concerts, the Annual Concert and Band Camps) and work in collaboration with the St Mary's Song School in the promotion and development of the Cathedral Choiradvancing the College's Phronesis Program collaboratively with staff and studentsworking with the Instructional Leader: Diverse Learning (K-12) to devise intervention strategies which support and challenge underachieving students across all abilities to succeed and achieve their personal besttracking student performance within the faculty and ensuring that effective assessment, responsiveness to data, timely feedback and differentiation are embedded within teaching programs and practicesmonitoring teachers' goal setting related to performance and evaluating the achievement of set goals.SCS welcomes and encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and candidates with diverse backgrounds.Statement of Commitment to Child SafetyClick hereto access SCS' Statement of Commitment to Child Safety and join us in creating a culture of child safety and wellbeing.Working With Children Check (WWCC)This role is classified as child-related work and therefore requires a WWCC clearance prior to commencement of employment.Be careful - Don't provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
