ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced, proactive WHS Specialist to join our team in a key national role.
This position is designed for a safety professional who thrives on building robust safety cultures, managing technical compliance, and overseeing high-level WHS systems across Australia and Current Zealand.
Reporting to senior management, you will be the primary custodian of our WHS framework, ensuring our sites remain audit-ready and fully compliant with state and national regulators.
While you will oversee return-to-work processes, your core focus will be prevention, system auditing, and process improvement.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Regulator & Audit Management: Act as the primary liaison for safety inspections and audits, coordinating responses to SafeWork/WorkSafe and ensuring all sites meet stringent legislative requirements.
WHS Systems & Policy: Develop, review, and implement national WHS policies and standard operating procedures to drive continuous improvement and best-practice safety.
Incident Investigation: Lead factual investigations into high-risk hazards and incidents, utilizing root-cause analysis to implement preventative controls.
Compliance Oversight: Maintain the national WHS architecture, including safety registers, training records, and audit schedules to ensure 100% transparency and accountability.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with site managers and corporate teams to provide expert advice on risk mitigation and safety obligations.
Injury Management Oversight: Monitor workers' compensation tracking and return-to-work plans, ensuring all injury management aligns with our broader safety and compliance goals.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
WHS Specialisation: Relevant qualifications with a minimum of three years' experience in WHS management, specifically focusing on auditing, policy development, and regulatory compliance.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of WHS legislation across Australia and New Zealand and experience dealing directly with safety regulators.
Systems Thinking: A proven ability to identify gaps in safety processes and implement scalable, effective improvements.
Communication & Influence: Exceptional skills in documenting witness statements, conducting factual investigations, and influencing safety behavior at all levels.
Autonomy: The ability to work independently to manage a national portfolio while remaining a key collaborator within the Head Office team.
