The required working day for this position is Wednesday due to mandatory meetings and clinic room allocation.You will be responsible for providing high quality evidence-based care to young people and their families in both an inpatient and outpatient setting and providing leadership and training to junior medical staff, nursing and allied health staff.
You will take 1 weekly outpatient clinic be allocated first on-call responsibilities and provide second on call support for the Adolescent Medicine Fellows as well as take part in the Eating Disorders multidisciplinary assessment clinic.Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: Consultant Paediatrician (Adolescent Medicine)
- Maternity Leave Replacement.Classification for this position will be in accordance with Award 31 - Fractional.What You'll AchieveMedical and psychosocial assessments and manage the care of adolescents and their families presenting to the General Adolescent Medicine outpatient clinicsMaintain accurate and up to date patient medical information and records via documentation within the electronic medical record including diagnosis and treatment plans, complications, co-morbidities, procedures conducted and other reportsManage inpatients admitted under Adolescent Medicine while on ward service, including providing 'second on call' supervision when the Adolescent Medicine Fellows are on ward serviceFoster the development of adolescent medicine as a career path for medical students and paediatric traineesYour Skills And ExperienceCurrent registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRAMBBS or equivalentFellowship qualifications with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalentProvider number with Medicare and ABN to bill for clinical activityAbout The DepartmentThe Department of Adolescent Medicine, The Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne, is a multidisciplinary specialty department providing inpatient and outpatient care to adolescents experiencing both physical and mental health concerns.
Sub-speciality teams within the Department of Adolescent Medicine include the Eating Disorders Service, specialising in treating adolescents with anorexia nervosa and other restrictive eating disorders, the Gender Service who assist children and adolescents experiencing gender dysphoria, The Transition Support Service providing care in transition from paediatric to adult health providers, the Young People's Health Service who provide primary health care for marginalised and at risk youth and the Chronic Illness Peer support (ChIPS) team who facilitate peer support, leadership and participation among adolescent and young adults aged ***** living with a chronic illness.
Inpatient Adolescent Medicine includes the care of adolescents requiring admission to the RCH for medical conditions with psychosocial complexity, somatisation disorders and medically unstable patients with restrictive type eating disorders.What We OfferSalary packaging option with our partner,
