Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor | Counselling and Case Management Service | ChermsideEmployment Term: Part-time (68.4 hours p/f) 9 month maternity leave position, with possibility of extension.Location: ChermsideRemuneration: $***** per hour + super + NFP salary packagingPlease read this job listing in full, as it contains important information required for your consideration for the role.Make a meaningful difference with UnitingCareQueenslandOur Counselling and Case Management Service provides specialist counselling and case management support to women experiencing high-risk domestic and family violence.We are seeking an experienced Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor to deliver trauma-informed therapeutic counselling alongside targeted case management and advocacy.This role supports women who have experienced significant and ongoing trauma and requires a high level of professional judgement, advanced risk assessment capability, and accountability.The position involves:Delivering specialist DFV counselling and therapeutic interventionsUndertaking comprehensive and ongoing DFV risk assessmentsDeveloping, implementing, and reviewing safety plansProviding short-to-medium term case management and advocacyMaintaining accurate, timely, and legally defensible client recordsWorking collaboratively with internal teams and external specialist servicesThis role is not suitable for applicants seeking entry-level counselling experience or roles without Domestic and Family Violence specialisation.What makes a difference for us?
This role will suit you if you:Have direct experience providing face to face counselling for women impacted by Domestic and Family ViolenceAre confident in undertaking complex risk assessments and safety planning independentlyAre comfortable working with high-risk and high-complexity presentationsUnderstand the legal and service systems relevant to DFV practiceMinimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology,
or Counselling from a recognised tertiary institutionQueensland Open Driver LicenceCurrent Working with Children Check (Blue Card or eligibility to obtain)Eligibility for membership with ONE of the following professional bodies: Australian Association of Social Workers, Australian Psychological Society, Australian Counselling Association or PACFA Member AssociationGENDER REQUIREMENTDue to the nature of service delivery, female representation is required.
