Readings is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to take ownership of end-to-end payroll delivery across nine shops, our warehouse and head office.This is a hands on specialist role responsible for delivering an accurate, timely and compliant weekly payroll using Humanforce and MicrOpay.
You will be the primary contact for payroll matters, providing knowledgeable and responsive support to employees and managers.The role also manages payroll reporting and compliance across superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, WorkCover and leave entitlements.
You will support payroll system changes, work with our system providers and identify opportunities to improve payroll efficiency and controls.Key responsibilitiesManage the end-to-end weekly payroll processReview and resolve time and attendance exceptions in HumanforceProcess employee commencements, changes, leave and terminationsMaintain accurate payroll and employee recordsMaintain payroll system settings to reflect approved EBA, award and employment-condition requirementsRespond to payroll queries from employees and managersComplete payroll reconciliations, reporting and statutory submissionsManage superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, WorkCover and leave obligationsSupport payroll system changes and process improvementsMaintain appropriate payroll controls, procedures and confidentialityWhat you'll bringAt least five years' end-to-end payroll experience,
ideally within retail or another award-intensive environmentDemonstrated ability to independently manage an accurate and compliant payroll serviceSound working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, modern awards and employment conditionsExperience across superannuation, PAYG withholding, payroll tax, WorkCover and leave entitlementsAdvanced MicrOpay skills and strong experience with Humanforce or a comparable time and attendance systemStrong reconciliation, reporting and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and the ability to meet weekly deadlinesA genuine service mindset and confidence communicating with employees and managersSound judgment and discretion when handling confidential informationThis role would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys taking ownership and delivering a trusted payroll service across a diverse organisation.About ReadingsReadings is one of Australia's most loved independent bookshops, and our small finance team plays an significant role in keeping the whole operation running smoothly.
