This role is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the branch within the trade-based HVAC wholesale environment.
The role combines operational management, people leadership, financial accountability, and hands‐on sales responsibilities to ensure sustainable growth and high levels of customer satisfaction.You'll have full responsibility for branch operations including sales revenue, gross margin, expense control, stock management, safety compliance, customer service standards, and team performance.
A key component of the role is maintaining robust relationships with existing trade customers—such as HVAC contractors, builders, and maintenance providers—while actively prospecting for new customers, projects, and commercial opportunities.The Branch Manager is expected to operate both strategically and operationally, ensuring alignment with company objectives while remaining actively involved in daily branch activities, sales engagement, and customer interactions.What does my day to day look like?
Manage day-to-day branch operations to ensure efficient and effective service deliveryOversee order processing, dispatch, receiving,
and warehouse functionsEnsure stock accuracy, availability, and effective inventory control practicesMaintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and organisation across the branchMonitor and improve operational processes to increase efficiency and reduce wasteDevelop and implement branch sales plans aligned with company growth targetsMaintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers through regular engagement, site visits, and account managementProspect for recent customers, contractors, builders, developers, and commercial projectsIdentify and pursue new revenue streams, product lines, and market opportunitiesPrepare quotations, negotiate pricing within delegated authority, and close salesMonitor competitor activity and market trends to inform pricing and product strategiesCollaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on promotions and campaignsManage branch profit and loss performance including revenue, margins, and expensesPrepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, as directedControl branch expenditure and ensure cost-effective operationsMonitor debtor levels and support credit control processes where requiredEnsure consistent delivery of high-quality customer serviceResolve escalated customer complaints or service issues promptly and professionallyBuild strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and key industry contactsRepresent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunitiesDesired Skills and ExperienceWhat you will bring to the role:Trade qualification, Certificate or Diploma in HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning,
Mechanical Services or a related field, and/or a Business, Sales or Management qualification — or equivalent industry experienceDemonstrated experience in branch, operations or sales management within a trade, wholesale or distribution environmentProven track record in sales growth, customer account management and new business developmentExperience supervising or leading a team in a fast‐paced operational environmentExperience managing budgets, margins and financial performanceStrong understanding of HVAC products, components, systems and industry standardsExposure to ERP, CRM or inventory management systemsAdvanced sales, negotiation and relationship‐building skills with the ability to build long‐term trust with trade customersAbility to drive sales growth while maintaining operational efficiencyEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to identify emerging market opportunities and adapt branch strategy accordinglyStrong safety mindset — a genuine commitment to WH&S; and putting safety firstKnowledge of inventory control and wholesale distribution operations and logisticsA competitive salary on offerFull training in all aspects of the business operationsGreat work life balance — no weekend work or late nights!
