MIGAS Apprentices and Trainees – Yarranlea QLDWe are seeking a motivated Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our client Sunny Queen in a hands‐on maintenance team supporting production, process equipment and site operations.During this four‐year apprenticeship you will complete a MEM***** Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting).
This role is suited to someone with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in learning the maintenance fitting trade.The role is based at Yarranlea, a 45-minute drive from Toowoomba.This Maintenance Fitter role involves assisting with the upkeep, repair and preventative maintenance of a range of production machinery, process equipment and site assets.The role does not involve lathe or mill work.
Day‐to‐day duties will include machine checks, mechanical maintenance, fabrication, welding tasks and general support around the property when required.Your duties will include, but are not limited to:Carrying out preventative maintenance, including daily checks on machinery and equipmentMaintaining and repairing egg separating machines,
process equipment and Cryovac machinesWorking on and repairing mechanical pumps across the siteAssisting with fabrication and welding tasks, TIG weldingPurge weldingUsing hand tools and welding equipment safely and correctlySupporting site projects such as shed extensions and other property improvementsAssisting with general farm and property duties such as mowing, whipper snipping and tractor operationJob DetailsAbout YouThe successful candidate will be punctual, reliable, hard‐working and genuinely interested in learning the maintenance fitting trade.You will bring mechanical knowledge or aptitude, basic hand tool knowledge and a willingness to work safely in a production and maintenance environment.In addition to these qualities, you will:Hold a current driver licence, manual licence preferred but not essentialHave a construction White Card, or ability to attain oneHave mechanical knowledge and aptitude, ideally with basic hand tool experienceHave welding experience, or an interest in learning weldingBring a valuable work ethic and a genuine desire to learn the tradeBe punctual, reliable and safety consciousHave a reliable vehicle as the worksite is not accessible by public transport
