Full-time | $85,000 ++ per annum plus superannuationHome base: Moorabbin and DandenongToasted Truck & Deli is looking for an experienced, hands-on Food Truck Manager/Chef to take ownership of our food truck operations across Melbourne, regional Victoria and selected festivals.This is a practical, hands-on role combining cooking, team leadership, customer service, cleaning and responsibility for driving and operating our automatic food truck.While this is a management position, it is not a supervisory-only role.
You will lead from the front and work alongside the team.
Some shifts will also involve working independently, including opening and closing the truck alone.Food Truck Manager / ChefYou will be responsible for:Driving the food truck safely to and from eventsManaging bump-in, setup, service and bump-outOpening and closing the food truck, sometimes independentlyLeading and coordinating the food truck crewCooking and delivering consistently high-quality foodWorking independently during selected services when requiredMaintaining fast, organised service during busy eventsCompleting daily cleaning throughout and after servicePerforming full truck clean-downs, including cooking equipment, benches, floors, fridges and service areasManaging food safety, hygiene and presentation standardsMonitoring stock, equipment and service readinessCommunicating professionally with clients and event organisersTroubleshooting operational issues during serviceCompleting regional and festival work, including some overnight staysWhen there is not enough scheduled food truck work to fill your full time hours, additional shifts will be provided at our fixed stores in Moorabbin or Carnegie.About youWe are looking for someone who:Has strong cooking or chef experienceHas experience leading a kitchen,
food truck or hospitality teamIs genuinely hands-on and willing to handle every part of the operationIs comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for an entire shiftTakes pride in cleaning and maintaining an exceptionally clean food truckIs comfortable and confident driving and manoeuvring a larger vehicleCan remain calm, organised and decisive during high-volume servicesIs dependable, practical and willing to take ownershipUnderstands food safety and commercial-kitchen standardsIs comfortable working weekends, festivals and regional eventsCan stay away overnight when requiredIs happy to work across the food truck and our fixed locationsA Medium Rigid licence is required to drive the truck.
If you don't currently hold one, we are willing to pay for the right candidate to obtain it.
However, you must be genuinely comfortable driving and manoeuvring the rig.The truck is automatic.Hours and availabilityThis is a full-time role with weekend availability required.
Food truck and festival work naturally includes weekends, public events and some irregular hours.We understand the importance of having weekends off and will provide them where operationally possible, but applicants must be available for regular weekend work.Salary$85,000 per annum plus superannuation.Overnight accommodation and approved work-related travel expenses will be arranged or reimbursed when regional and festival work requires staying away from home.About Toasted Truck & DeliToasted Truck & Deli is an established and growing Melbourne hospitality business known for high-quality gourmet toasties and high-volume event catering.
