The TeamThe Mersey Community Hospital, Latrobe has 95 beds and offers general and specialist health services including 24-hour emergency department, general medicine, day surgery and endoscopy, rehabilitation, palliative care and day oncology services along with a variety of specialist clinics.
Mersey Community Hospital is a dedicated elective surgery centre and provides a mixture of general hospital services.
The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs.
All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.Specialties provided include Dental Surgery, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, and Endoscopy.Experience is not mandatory but highly desirable.Be part of a dynamic, fast paced, and supportive teamProvide an productive sterilisation and decontamination services to the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)The RoleAs a member of the health care team, the Sterilising Department Technician:Decontaminates, packages, sterilises and distributes reusable medical devices (RMDs) for the Operating Theatre and other specialist and general areas.Maintains a clean and hygienic environment to facilitate the control of infection in the Central Sterilising Department (CSD).
This position is primarily based at Mersey Community Hospital (MCH), with the opportunity to undertake casual shifts at North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) as operational requirements allowYou will needKnowledge,
experience and/or qualifications in sterilising technology or willingness to undertake a relevant course in Sterilising Services technology.Demonstrated ability to maintain the cleanliness of equipment and the working environment according to Infection Control principles.Capacity to obtain a thorough knowledge of organisational RMDs, along with the skill to initiate appropriate action and follow protocols for the decontamination and reprocessing of these RMDs.Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.Details of appointmentFixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 12 monthsNotwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.Salary$70,033 to $75,114 per annum (Pro rata).
