We have a growing presence in cyber, space and nuclear programs.Role DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Commercial Specialist to provide expert commercial, procurement and contract management support for the delivery of advanced Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) programs within a high-profile Defence capability setting.
This role will play a critical part in developing procurement strategies, managing complex commercial arrangements and supporting the acquisition and sustainment of innovative capabilities.Working closely with Defence stakeholders, industry partners and project teams, you will apply your commercial expertise to deliver value-for-money outcomes, manage risk, and ensure procurement activities align with Defence policies, governance frameworks and strategic objectives.This role offers uncapped training and development opportunities as well as other benefits including subsidised parking, flexible working and different leave arrangements including paid parental, study, reserve and volunteer leave.This full-time position is based in either Brisbane or Canberra.What will I be doing day to day?
Develop and implement procurement strategies that support the rapid acquisition and sustainment of Defence UAS capabilitiesContribute to the successful delivery of strategic Defence capability programs through sound commercial and procurement practicesProvide expert advice on contracting approaches, including standing offers, panel arrangements and performance-based contractsSupport and lead market engagement activities, including Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Tender (RFTs)



and industry briefingsEnsure procurement and contracting activities comply with Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Defence-specific policiesConduct commercial risk assessments and provide advice on risk mitigation strategiesSupport contract negotiation, establishment and ongoing management activitiesWork collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.Ensure adherence to governance requirements, export controls, ethical obligations and relevant legislative frameworksWhat sort of skills do I need?
Certificate IV in Procurement and ContractingA tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline will be highly regardedDemonstrated experience in procurement, commercial management and contract administration within complex environmentsStrong knowledge and practical experience with the ASDEFCON contract suite, from contract development through to in-service managementProven negotiation skills with the ability to achieve positive commercial outcomesExperience interpreting contractual documentation and developing contract management approaches to meet complex business requirementsUnderstanding of Commonwealth procurement frameworks and Defence governance requirementsKnowledge of Australian Industry Capability (AIC) frameworks is desirableAustralian citizenship and an NV1 Security ClearanceWhat's in it for me?
