This role ensures protection of public health, the environment, and sewerage infrastructure through implementation and enforcement of Trade Waste policies in line with Queensland legislation and standards.About the role:This is a key regulatory position responsible for administering and enforcing Council's Trade Waste program.Key Responsibilities:Assess trade waste applications, set conditions/charges, issue permits and maintain recordsMonitor and sample discharges, coordinate lab testing, and maintain data integrityConduct site inspections of pre-treatment systems (e.g. grease arrestors, separators)Investigate non-compliance, prepare evidence,
and issue notices or enforcement actionsAssess plumbing/drainage applications under relevant legislation and codesApply trade waste provisions to protect infrastructure and treatment processesUse WSAA guidance values aligned with treatment capabilityReview meter data, estimate discharges, and reconcile billingProvide advice to customers, plumbers and stakeholdersMaintain registers, GIS data, and prepare reportsC Class Driver LicenceQBCC Licensed Plumber and Drainer (or equivalent)White CardStrong knowledge of QLD legislation (Plumbing & Drainage Act, WS&S; Act, NCC, QPW Code)Proficiency with digital tools, data management, and billing systemsStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to travel within the regionExperience in inspections, sampling, investigations, and compliance enforcementCert III/IV in Water Industry Operations (Trade Waste) or willingness to obtainCert IV in Government InvestigationsExperience in environmental sampling and data interpretationJoin the team:Council is committed to providing a healthy work environment for individuals working, visiting or conducting business at Council workplaces and is transitioning to a Smoke Free Workplace.Council practices Equal Employment Opportunities and Workplace Health and Safety Principles.Be careful - Don't provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs.
