Reporting to the Executive Manager Aviation Safety, this position is responsible for overseeing compliance of WSI's airfield and asset infrastructure with MOS139 standards and WSI's Aerodrome Manual.
It is also responsible for the coordination and provision of support for the strategic oversight and operational management of the Aerodrome's Aviation Safety Management System (ASMS) in alignment with ICAO Annex 19, CASA's Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs), and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
The role spans across all Aerodrome operational areas, including airfield and apron operations, Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC), asset management and contractor interfaces.
Key responsibilities
Support and embed the Aviation Safety Management System (ASMS) across aerodrome operations in line with CASA and ICAO requirements.
Deliver aviation safety assurance activities, training, and aviation safety risk review committee coordination.
Ensure alignment between aviation safety management processes and operational procedures.
Lead Part 139 compliance monitoring and assurance programs to ensure adherence to CASA, ICAO, and Aerodrome Manual requirements.
Conduct audits, manage corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Support safety case submissions, technical inspections, obstacle surveys, and AIP-ERSA updates.
Monitor aviation safety performance across airfield, ramp, and operational activities.
Analyse trends and operational data to support decision-making and regulatory reporting.
Contribute to investigations of aviation safety incidents and ensure the reporting obligations are met.
Maintain aerodrome safety risk registers and support the identification, assessment, and treatment of operational risks.
Ensure risk controls remain effective as operations and systems evolve.
Partner with operational, asset management, planning, and regulatory stakeholders to strengthen aviation safety outcomes and resolve compliance issues.
About you
This is a outstanding opportunity if you're experienced in aviation safety and compliance and enjoy working across teams to improve operational performance.
Tertiary qualification in Aviation Management, Safety Systems, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years' experience in aviation safety, compliance aerodrome operations, or airfield operations.
Formal Safety, Lead Auditor, and aviation investigation training (e.g. ICAM).
Strong knowledge of CASA regulations, ICAO standards, Safety Management Systems (SMS), and CASR Part 139 requirements.
Demonstrated experience in aviation safety assurance, compliance auditing, risk management, and incident investigations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and risks, and develop practical safety improvements.
Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience preparing high-quality reports and recommendations.
Proven ability to build effective relationships and influence outcomes across operational teams, contractors, regulators and external agencies.
Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Red Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
