Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools.
We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
Student Support Officers work within the school community to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes in partnership with the wellbeing team and the school counselling service.
Student Support Officers provide individual and targeted wellbeing support and whole of school wellbeing initiatives and programs that are evidence-based.
They have a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies and creating referral pathways for students and families to child and family support agencies.
Essential Requirements
A completed diploma or higher qualification in social work, youth work, welfare or related discipline must be attached along with your application
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Valid and current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

About Chifley College




Chifley College is a multi-campus college established in **** to enhance the educational opportunities for students in the Mount Druitt area.
Mount Druitt Campus has an enrolment of 630 students, including 24% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as well as 51% Pacific Islander students.
The campus is committed to the NSW Public Education plan to lift Education Standards through literacy, numeracy, differentiation and explicit teaching.
Our Inclusion Faculty has seven classes - an IM, IO and five multicategory classes.
The school received significant funding to support student learning outcomes through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM) including equity loading for Aboriginal background, English language proficiency, low level adjustment for disability and socio-economic background.
Added to this, our adaptable Well-being and Professional Learning funds ensure that the school is well resourced and caters to the individual needs of students and staff.
This enables our school to participate in the Clontarf Program, provide laptop computers in every class andcureency in technology with podcast facilities, a recording studio and hospitality facilities.
The school is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices, with staff professional learning being the key to achieving this outcome.
This ongoing learning ensures that both literacy and numeracy levels are enhanced through excellent teaching, improved data analysis, and targeted support for individualised and differentiated learning.
Our High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) program is embedded across all areas of the school,



supporting students' diverse talents and interests in sport, the arts, cultural, and academic pursuits.
We are also proud to provide a robust inclusive education program, both within specialist cohorts and across general education settings.

Total Remuneration Package: The salary range for this position is $76,****** - $112,****** per annum (pro-rata for part time roles).
The total salary package will include employer's contribution to superannuation and leave loading.
