Your next career opportunity In this senior engineering role, you will lead Cross-Collection Search delivery within the Cultural Collections Nexus Project.
You will shape a modern discovery platform that connects diverse collections for students, staff, researchers and communities.
What you will deliver:
Lead design, customisation and implementation of the Nexus Cross-Collection Search portal using Ruby on Rails and Solr.
Gather and analyse requirements, writing clear Agile user stories that translate customer needs into technical outcomes.
Collaborate closely with DevOps engineers, product owners and stakeholders to prioritise backlog items and plan releases.
Develop, test and deploy software using CI/CD pipelines, automation tools and modern application frameworks to ensure quality.
Support secure, compliant and reliable operations, aligning with University risk, governance and occupational health and safety requirements.
You may be a excellent fit if you:
Hold undergraduate qualifications in software engineering, computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrate strong experience building and maintaining web applications using Ruby on Rails, Apache Solr and related technologies.
Bring practical knowledge of Agile delivery, DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Use modern languages and frameworks such as Python, Java, .
NET, JavaScript, Django, Flask, React or Angular.
Apply automation and performance tools including Ansible, Rancher, Docker, AWS, Splunk and monitoring platforms to optimise systems.
Provide confident, adaptable communication and demonstrate leadership in owning solutions end to end within a team.
