Yumbah Port Lincoln (YPL) grow Greenlip Abalone at our Point Boston farming operations which consist of a Hatchery, Nursery and Grow Out areas.
About the Role
The role of Propagation Technician supports the Propagation Manager with spawning, larval rearing, and juvenile care prior to transfer to Grow Out zones at our Point Boston Abalone farm sites
.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar aquaculture environment with prior Research & Development experience and an eye for detail.
This is a casual, ongoing position with training provided and an opportunity to become a permanent team member.
Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7.00 am – 3.30 pm, Friday 7.00 am – 1.00 pm with some weekend work required.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Propagation Manager with spawning, larval rearing, and juvenile care prior to transfer to Grow Out zones.
Carry out daily stock husbandry tasks, including feeding, cleaning, and stock movement.
Accurately record operational and stock data.
Operate equipment such as grading machines and assist with product preparation, transport, and general maintenance.
Follow all Yumbah policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Report hazards, incidents, accidents, and near misses promptly.
Participate in farm meetings, trials, and continuous improvement activities.
Wear and properly maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean, protected, and effective work environment.
Work respectfully and cooperatively with all team members.
Qualifications/Skills
Prior experience in Research and Development.
Hatchery/nursery experience (desirable).
Sound communication and time management skills.
Able to work well as part of a team.
Proven and demonstrated skills.
