About the role

We're looking for an
Associate Structural Engineer
to support the growth of our
trenchless design and underground construction capability
. You'll help deliver practical, technically robust solutions across major water infrastructure, underground structures and asset rehabilitation projects.
From deep shafts in constrained urban environments to pipeline rehabilitation and temporary works, this role will give you the opportunity to lead key project activities, guide design outcomes and work closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
Based in
Melbourne (preferred), Sydney, or Brisbane
you'll enjoy flexible working and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on nationally significant projects.
What you'll be doing
Deliver complex underground and rehabilitation projects
Lead and support shaft, shoring and underground structure designs
Assess and rehabilitate existing pipeline and water assets
Develop practical design solutions for constrained urban and brownfield sites
Support temporary and enabling works for complex underground installations
Work with clients and contractors to turn complex problems into clear solutions
Provide technical and project leadership
Review technical reports, designs and recommendations
Coordinate inputs across multidisciplinary teams
Manage project scope, schedule and budget across multiple workstreams
Apply relevant standards, guidelines and Safety in Design principles
Support quality, risk and design governance across project delivery
Support clients, proposals and team growth
Build strong, client-focused relationships
Contribute to proposals and new project opportunities
Communicate technical issues in a clear and accessible way
Mentor junior engineers and support their development
Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative team culture
About you
Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
CPEng, RPEQ or equivalent, or working towards chartership
Around 8+ years' experience in structural, underground or water infrastructure design
Experience delivering technically challenging infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of temporary works, underground structures or asset rehabilitation
Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities
Strong client communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Sound knowledge of Safety in Design and relevant Australian standards
Experience with sewer relining or rehabilitation projects will be highly regarded
