We're looking for an experienced
Safety Officer
to join a small HSE team supporting a well-established heavy industrial business across three Brisbane sites.
You'll work directly with operational teams, contractors and managers, spending time on the floor completing inspections, having safety conversations, supporting investigations and helping ensure HSE systems work in practice, not just on paper.
What you'll be doing
Work within a small HSE team to guide the business in the management of health, safety and environmental activities while complying with legislative requirements and company standards
Champion the Group Safety Management System processes
Undertake audits, inspections, and front-line engagements
Contribute to risk assessments, work method statements, project plans and reviews
Contribute to incident investigations and reviews
Develop, implement, and monitor work instructions with operational teams
Assist with development, delivery, and management of training
Facilitate and coordinate relevant safety meetings on site
Identifies continuous improvement opportunities in safety processes
Assist with managing contractors on site from a Safety perspective
What we're looking for
You'll hold a
Certificate IV in OHS/WHS
and ideally have experience within
heavy industry, construction, mobile plant, materials handling or another high-risk operational environment
.
You'll understand current WHS legislation and industry requirements, but just as importantly, you'll know how to
communicate safety effectively on the ground
. We're looking for someone approachable and practical who can build credibility with frontline workers while confidently engaging with management.
A Diploma in WHS and/or Training & Assessment experience would be highly regarded but isn't essential.
You'll need a
current driver's licence and your own vehicle
to travel between sites, with a
per-kilometre allowance paid for required travel
.

38 hours per week for 3-6 months
, without locking yourself into a permanent move. There's flexibility around when you work your hours, you can choose your primary site, and you'll join an established HSE team rather than carrying the function alone.
