We are an established and busy Japanese restaurant located on Clarence st Wynyard, offering high-quality Japanese cuisine in a professional and fast-paced workplace.
We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
Key responsibilities
Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, menus and presentation standards
Preparing ingredients, including meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces, stocks and garnishes
Operating grills, fryers, stovetops, ovens and other commercial kitchen equipment
Monitoring the quality of ingredients and finished dishes
Ensuring consistent portion sizes, flavour and presentation
Assisting with menu preparation and the development of new dishes when required
Managing food preparation and service during busy periods
Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and inventory control
Minimising food waste and following appropriate food-storage procedures
Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
Following food safety, workplace health and safety, and sanitation requirements
Working collaboratively with chefs, kitchen staff and front-of-house team members




Assisting with the training and supervision of junior kitchen staff where required
Skills and experience
To be considered for this position, applicants should have:
A relevant commercial cookery qualification,or at least three years of relevant commercial cooking experience
Experience working in a busy commercial restaurant kitchen
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and food safety requirements
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent quality
Good organisational and time-management skills
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
The ability to work under pressure during busy service periods
Availability to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
Experience preparing Japanese cuisine will be highly regarded but is not essential.
