The Role
The Lodge Group is seeking experienced and passionate sommeliers to lead the delivery of exceptional service within our flagship hospitality venues on Little Collins Street. Primarily working in our one-hatted restaurant, The Lodge Dining Room, our sommeliers are highly engaged in service and empowered to enhance guests experiences through thoughtful wine selections and pairings from our extensive wine offering, curated by Recent Zealand's first Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas.
You will have a warm and open character, a genuine passion for food, wine, and hospitality, and be committed to your own professional growth. Fine dining experience is favourable, however training and support will be provided.
As we are planning for our summer season, we welcome applications for casual, part-time, or full-time opportunities, including working holiday visa candidates.
Responsibilities
Provide engaging advice and storytelling within wine recommendations and pairings to enhance the guest's experience.
Drive beverage sales through strategic upselling and exemplary service.
Conduct wine tastings and training sessions for staff to improve their knowledge and service skills.
Maintaining inventory and ensuring organised wine cellar operations, including proper storage and labelling.
Support the Head Sommelier in collaboration with the kitchen team to create seasonal wine pairings and special event offerings
Stay updated on industry trends and new wine releases to continually enhance the wine program.
Qualifications
a minimum of two years experience as a sommelier, preferrably in a hatted restaurant environment
confident knowledge of wine, including regions,



varieties, and producers;
Certified CMS or Level 3 WSET qualifications would be highly regarded
excellent service technique and commitment to maintain high standards
passion for sharing knowledge and empowering others to learn
excellent communication and organisational skills

availability to work a rotating roster, Tuesday-Saturday, lunches and dinners.

Our four-storey flagship at 280 Little Collins Street reimagines Melbourne's luxury landscape. Housed within an iconic Art Deco landmark by Harry Norris, the project unites fashion, dining, design, and history under one roof. Blending heritage architecture with contemporary hospitality-led design, each level has been curated to create a transportive journey through The Lodge experience.
The pièce de résistance of the flagship, grand in scale yet intimate in detail. The one-hatted Lodge Dining Room is an impressive destination framed by floor-to-ceiling arched windows, antique mirrors and a customer's ultimate journey throughout our hospitality offering. A reeded-glass private dining room with steel detailing and a striking white marble table offers an exclusive setting for more intimate gatherings within the grandeur of the main space.
