About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and reliable Assistant Educator - Cert III qualified to join our friendly Early Learning Centre team at Hunter Valley Grammar School on a full-time, fixed term (Term 4 only, ****) basis.
Our Assistant Educators are responsible for providing education and care for children enrolled at the service, consistent with our philosophy, policies and procedures and curriculum, and according to the requirements of the National Quality Framework.
Assistant Educators work in collaboration with other educators, the Educational Leader, the Nominated Supervisor and other professionals and communities.
This position is a fixed term position for Term 4, **** only.
Key Duties
Maintaining requirements for Child Safety and Protection at all times, including the need to identify and respond to every child at risk of abuse or neglect.
Maintaining up-to-date First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.




Responding appropriately to the health and safety needs of all children and ensuring a safe, healthy and clean indoor and outdoor environment for children.
Maintaining required staff to child ratios at all times.
Maintaining confidentiality for families, children and staff at all times.
Building secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships with children and families.
Building collaborative relationships with all staff in the service based on respect, trust and honesty.
Ensuring professional written and verbal communication at all times.
Engaging in professional conversations with other educators to enhance knowledge and practice.
Engaging in professional conversations with other professionals as is appropriate and with the knowledge of the Director or Nominated Supervisor.
Working in collaboration with other educators and the Educational Leader in developing and implementing a high-quality education and care curriculum for all enrolled children that is consistent with:

Role modelling and engaging children in responsive and meaningful learning opportunities.
Interacting with children in a respectful, responsive and developmentally appropriate manner.

Setting up and maintaining a responsive, intentional and aesthetic learning environment across all indoor and outdoor spaces.
Positively responding to feedback, advice, and guidance from the Educational Leader.
Engaging in reflection of practices, such as contributing to group and individual reflection journals as well as ongoing professional development and reading (up to 38 hours outside of working hours).
Attending and contributing ideas during staff meetings.
Participating in the ongoing review and development of Centre Policies.
Contributing to the ELC's self‐assessment process, the development of our Quality Improvement Plan and aligning practices with this.
Acting as a qualified role model for other staff.

Assisting the ELC Director and other classroom educators with the day-to-day running of the Centre.




Assisting with administrative and operational processes such as cleaning.
Carrying out other tasks, as required by the ELC Director.
About You
Hold an ACECQA approved Certificate III level qualification, or be actively working towards this qualification.
Responsibility for managing one's own fee payment and maintenance of a current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance.
Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework (V2.0).
Ability to relate effectively with children and their families.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
A high level of interpersonal skills, a willingness to be an active team member and contribute to the broader fabric of the School.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build solid professional rapport with multiple stakeholders.
Strong ICT skills will be regarded favourably. This includes the purposeful integration of technology and the capacity to use technology well in completing personal professional tasks.
Excellent time-management and administrative skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Commitment to ongoing skilled learning.
