Walawaani East Lynne is a residential Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) rehabilitation program supporting young people aged 16 to 24 years on their recovery journey. We provide a safe, structured and therapeutic environment where young people can develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to create positive change in their lives.
We are currently seeking compassionate, motivated and reliable Residential Youth Workers to join our team on either a Permanent Part Time, contract or Casual basis working rosters that require 24/7 availability.
As a Residential Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people within a residential rehabilitation setting. Through positive role modelling, practical life skills development and meaningful day-to-day support, you'll help create a safe, nurturing setting where young people can build confidence, develop independence and work towards lasting positive change.
Your key responsibilities will be to:




Build positive and professional relationships with young people aged 16 to 24 years
Support participants to achieve their individual recovery and case plan goals
Act as a positive role model and maintain a safe, structured residential environment
Facilitate life skills development including budgeting, meal preparation, personal care and household responsibilities
Deliver recreational, sporting, leisure and wellbeing activities
Support young people through program participation and transitions
Assist with medication management processes and wellbeing monitoringMaintain accurate case notes, reports and program documentation
Participate in team meetings, training and continuous improvement activities
Promote a strong culture of child and youth safety
Requirements for success
We're looking for people who are passionate about youth work and committed to supporting recovery and positive life outcomes.
Certificate qualification in Community Services or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
Experience working with young people and/or within community services, residential care, mental health, AOD or related settings
Understanding of trauma-informed practice, youth engagement and duty of care principles
Knowledge of mental health and substance use issues affecting young people
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment
A positive, person-centred approach and belief in every young person's capacity for growth and change
Strong professional boundaries and teamwork skills
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Current NSW Driving Licence




Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or willing to obtain
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
