About the Clinical Nursing Education Department
The Clinical Nursing Education Department (CNED) provides contemporary, evidence-based clinical education programs that support Austin Health's strategic priorities and workforce development goals.
As part of the Clinical Education Unit, CNED delivers education and professional development programs across a range of clinical specialties and supports nurses throughout all stages of their careers, including:
Entry to Practice programs
Graduate Nurse Programs
Transition to Specialty Practice Programs
About the Emergency Department
The Austin Health Emergency Department cares for approximately 90,000 patients each year, including around 20% paediatric presentations. It is a large, state-of-the-art service providing assessment, treatment and admission pathways across a broad range of specialties.
The department is supported by a 24-bed Short Stay Unit, comprising adult, paediatric and mental health beds, delivering treatment and observation for patients expected to discharge within ***** hours.
This role predominantly supports the Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit while working collaboratively within the broader Emergency Department, Nursing Workforce Unit, Ambulatory and Cancer Services nursing education portfolio and CNED.

Austin Health is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Clinical Nursing Education Department and play a key role in developing and supporting nurses across one of Victoria's busiest Emergency Departments.
Reporting to the Clinical Education Coordinator - Emergency Department, Nursing Workforce Unit, Ambulatory and Cancer Services, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for the development, coordination and delivery of high-quality education and training programs that support protected, evidence-based nursing practice.
You will help foster a positive learning culture, support nursing staff at all stages of their career development and contribute to the achievement of Best Practice Clinical Learning Environments (BPCLE).
In this role you will:
Develop and implement education strategies that enhance patient safety and clinical excellence.
Provide expert clinical guidance, leadership, supervision and support to nursing staff.
Coordinate and deliver education programs across the professional development continuum.
Support graduate, postgraduate, transition-to-specialty and early career nurses.
Facilitate clinical teaching, orientation, competency assessment and professional development activities.
Partner with Nurse Unit Managers and key stakeholders to support workforce capability and professional growth.
Contribute to quality improvement, research translation and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Promote a positive learning environment that supports excellence in patient care.
About You
You are an experienced Emergency Nurse who is passionate about learning, teaching and supporting others to achieve their full potential.
You will bring solid clinical expertise, excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to education and professional development.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.




Significant recent Emergency Nursing clinical experience.
Relevant postgraduate qualification in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing or a related specialty.
Previous experience in a formal education or clinical teaching role.
Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.
A flexible, innovative and team-oriented approach to service delivery.
Tertiary or vocational qualification in education or working towards one.
Experience in Paediatric Emergency Nursing.
Knowledge of clinical information systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
