This operational role works within a dedicated team of Companion Animal and Ranger Services Officers, with daily operations across companion animal management, parks and oval patrols, unattended property and complaint investigations.
Position Type
Permanent full time
$68,955 to $77,220 per annum (based 76 hours per fortnight), plus superannuation, and a 9 day fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience.

About the role
The position delivers high-quality professional and technical services to support both the organisation and the community, ensuring effective enforcement of the Local Government Act ****, Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act ****, and the Companion Animals Act ****. With a strong focus on outcomes and time-sensitive service delivery, the role delivers operational compliance activities, manages animal welfare for impounded animals in line with legislative requirements, and drives consistent, high-standard regulatory practice across the team.
Position requirements
Current Class C driver's licence.
Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or demonstrated equivalent and relevant experience in an enforcement role
Extensive experience in companion animal management including regulatory enforcement
Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks
Participation in rostered on-call, after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position
Desirable
Holder of Micro chipping certification, or willing to obtain
Knowledge of the NSW Pet Registry
About you
To be successful in the role you will have experience in regulatory enforcement roles relevant to companion animal management, be skilled in investigations, interviewing, evidence collection and applying relevant legislation.
You will have demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office and record keeping systems, time management and strong problem solving skills. You will possess sound knowledge of the relevant legislative framework related to companion animal management, animal welfare and best practice handling techniques.
You will be an exceptional communicator, confident in engaging with diverse stakeholders and adept at conflict resolution, negotiation, community education. You will be outcomes focussed, balancing the expectations of the community and reputation of Hornsby Council.
