We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Head of Boarding to join our Boarding Village leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key operational and pastoral role in supporting the wellbeing of students and the effective functioning of our boarding community. This role does not carry a teaching load.
This is a full-time, residential position commencing in January ****, with on-campus accommodation provided in recognition of the nature of the role.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Boarding, the Deputy Head of Boarding plays a crucial leadership role within the Boarding Village. Responsible for the day-to-day operations, staff support, and wellbeing of students, this role requires a strong presence, excellent communication, and a caring but structured approach.
The Deputy Head of Boarding deputises for the Head of Boarding, taking full responsibility during any planned or unplanned absences, and contributes to a safe, supportive, and home-like environment that reflects the College's values and ethos.
Key responsibilities
Supporting the pastoral care and wellbeing of all boarding students
Providing day-to-day oversight of routines, systems, and staff duties
Leading with empathy and accountability, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect
Acting as a first point of contact in the absence of the Head of Boarding
Supporting the career development and performance of Resident Staff
Managing student leave, medical needs, and behavioural expectations
Collaborating with the Head of Boarding on community events, parent communication, and student support strategies
Contributing to the upkeep, presentation, and functionality of the Boarding Village facilities
Assisting with transport, logistics, and administrative duties
Participating in the on-call duty roster

About You
You are an experienced boarding/residential professional with a genuine interest in student welfare and a strong sense of responsibility. You lead with integrity, warmth, and structure, and thrive in a team-oriented environment where communication and pastoral care are paramount.
Your background will include:
Relevant qualifications and/or experience in boarding, education, youth work, or residential care
Demonstrated experience in student wellbeing and pastoral care in a boarding setting
Excellent communication, team leadership, and organisational skills
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as part of a rostered system
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or eligibility to obtain
ABSA training or willingness to undertake
Teaching qualifications or experience are desirable but not essential

Generous remuneration package including salary of $90,000 - $110,000 dependant on experience, plus *****% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading
