The day-to-dayYou will be working on the design and architecture of the company's core network infrastructure to support our expanding global satellite fleet.
You will also work on layer 1 through layer 3 network design, capacity planning and platform management as well as the design of routes for fiber-based networks including point to point, ring, and path diverse routing.What you'll needUsing the experience gained during your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering to design complex optical networksApplying your 5 years relevant work experience with multi-vendor network equipment to architect complex DWDM systemsCreating written network implementation design plans (e.g. Method-of-Procedures MOPs)Having hands-on experience with test equipment (BER Test, Optical Power Meter, OTDR, etc.)



and troubleshooting system issuesWorking to automate networks components and network management systemsUsing your knowledge of coherent technology to build long-haul networksWhat will help you on the jobExperience with use of fiber network design, planning and mapping software tools such as Nokia, Adtran, (Infinera, Adva) 3-GIS, ESRI ArcGIS and QGISUnderstanding and debugging in any languages - Java, Python, Golang, or other modern programming languages using AI tools (i.e. Claude)Experience with continuous integration & delivery and DevOps methodologiesOperational experience working with major carriersAn understanding of outside plant construction requirements with fiber experience preferredIP and Ethernet networking experience#LI-VSATCompensation & benefitsAt Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
