Rockhampton Zoo is seeking experienced and passionateZoo Keepersto join our team on a casual basis who have hands‐on experience caring for mammals, birds, and/or reptiles in a professional zoo environment.
In this role, you will provide high‐quality care and husbandry for a diverse collection of mammals, birds, and/or reptiles ensuring their health, welfare, and enrichment.
You'll be involved in all aspects of zoo operations, including food preparation, enclosure maintenance, animal training, and record keeping.
This position also plays a key role in engaging and educating our visitors through interactive animal encounters, keeper talks, and guest programs, while delivering exceptional customer service.
You'll work closely with a dedicated team to maintain exhibits to a high standard and contribute to research and conservation initiatives.
Rockhampton Zoo is open to the public every day (except Christmas Day), and this casual role offers flexibility with weekend and public holiday work, with penalty rates applying where applicable.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
Bring Your Wildlife Expertise
Demonstrated experience in zoo keeping, including high welfare standards, relevant husbandry techniques, training, enrichment,



food preparation and the ability to assist in conducting veterinary procedures.Excellent time management and customer service skills to ensure successful delivery of keeper talks and animal visitor interactions.Ability to work well within a team environment as well as work independently at times with minimal supervision.Ability to work well under pressure and problem solve.Ability to carry out your duties in a safe manner whilst ensuring the safety of your team members, animals and public.
