DPM Civil Engineering (QLD) PTY LTD – Brisbane QLDThe Civil Designer is responsible for delivering high-quality civil design and drafting outputs across a range of infrastructure, urban development, and water-related projects.
Working within the Brisbane team, the role focuses on producing accurate, buildable designs using 12d and AutoCAD, while supporting engineers and project managers in delivering practical and cost-effective solutions.
The position involves detailed design, documentation, and coordination across multi-disciplinary projects, contributing to delivery from concept through to construction.
The Civil Designer works under the guidance of a Project Manager or Senior Engineer and collaborates closely with internal teams to ensure designs meet technical, regulatory, and client requirements, particularly within the Queensland regulatory environment.Key responsibilitiesUndertake design and drafting for multi-disciplinary civil projects, including culverts and pipe networks, detention basins and dams, bulk earthworks and site grading, and civil infrastructure including roads, water and sewer networksDevelop detailed 12d models and AutoCAD drawingsPrepare high-quality construction documentation, including plans, long sections, cross sections, set-out and design detailsEnsure all designs are accurate, clear, concise, constructable, productive, cost-effective, and compliant with relevant standards and authority requirementsReview and check drafting outputs to maintain quality and consistencyResolve complex technical drafting and design issuesPlan, manage,



and deliver assigned design and modelling tasks within agreed budgets and deadlinesAssist Project Managers in determining design and drafting resource requirements and identifying work suitable for outsourcingSupport preparation of quantities, cost estimates, and documentation packagesIdentify and communicate design risks, constraints, and opportunitiesCoordinate with internal disciplines to ensure integrated project deliveryProvide guidance and mentoring to junior designers and graduatesContribute to continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and systemsAbout youProven ability to deliver high-quality civil design across urban development and infrastructure projectsStrong understanding of local authority requirements, SEQ standards, and approval processesAdvanced skills in 12d and AutoCAD, with the ability to develop designs from concept through to detailed documentationHigh attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and complianceCapable of identifying constraints, risks, and resolving complex design challengesAble to manage design tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlinesBuilds strong working relationships across engineers, designers, and project teamsWilling to mentor junior designers and contribute to team capabilityDiploma of Engineering Technology (or similar), or significant industry experience as a Civil DesignerTypically 3–5+ years' experience in civil design within a consultancy or professional services environmentDemonstrated experience delivering projects in Queensland, particularly within South East Queensland (SEQ)
