Business Case WriterMelbourne CBD (Hybrid) | 3-6-Month Contract | $75 per hour + superWe are seeking an experienced Business Case Writer to support a large, complex public sector organisation through a busy budget and planning cycle.
Working within a high-performing Corporate Services function, you will play a key role in developing high-quality business cases and submissions that shape strategic investment decisions.About the roleThis role is responsible for leading the development of business cases and supporting submissions through the State budget process.
You will work closely with stakeholders across finance, delivery and operational teams to translate complex information into clear, evidence-based and compelling content.Key responsibilitiesLead the development of high-quality State budget business casesCoordinate inputs from subject matter experts, finance and delivery teamsDraft clear, concise and well-structured business case content aligned to government guidelinesDevelop key components including problem definition, options analysis, costings, perks and risksEnsure submissions are evidence-based, consistent and aligned to organisational prioritiesManage document quality,



version control and submission readinessIncorporate feedback from senior stakeholders and reviewersPrepare supporting presentations and materialsSupport responses to queries and revisions throughout the budget processManage multiple priorities and deadlines across concurrent workstreamsAbout youDemonstrated experience preparing business cases, funding submissions or proposalsAbility to translate complex technical, financial or policy information into clear narrativesStrong analytical capability, including assessing options, risks and assumptionsConfidence to engage stakeholders and provide constructive input to strengthen outcomesExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to manage competing prioritiesHighly regarded:Experience working within the Victorian public sector or similar environmentsFamiliarity with government budget processes and frameworksExposure to cost-benefit analysisRelevant tertiary qualification in business, finance, economics, public policy or a related fieldOnly shortlisted candidates will be contacted.At Chandler Macleod, we are committed to fostering a diverse workforce where everyone is welcome.
