Upon completion, KRC will house state-of-the-art facilities including;Allied health suites500 KW solar systemInclusive accessibility features (spa ramp, lift, disability activity spaces)Two indoor sports courtsLandscaped forecourt and caféKRC is part of the Boroondara Leisure & Aquatic Facilities, owned by City of Boroondara and proudly managed by the Y. The facilities receive over 2.5 million visits a year from the community and play a key role in delivering on City of Boroondara's Community Plan.About the roleThe Assistant Manager at Kew Recreation Centre will manage and lead teams of employees as well as other centre leaders in assigned areas and ensure that the delivery of the programs and services meets agreed standards.
They will lead, inspire, and motivate teams through clear and achievable team goals and ensure high standards of implementation of Policies and Procedures.The Assistant Manager will be a key leader within the local community and provide leadership and the vision for the operation of the facility and playing a broader role within both the YMCA and Council including:Directly oversee teams and programsDirectly oversee at least 1 middle manager as a direct reportAct regularly as a delegate/deputy of the Centre ManagerHave shared responsibility and accountability with the Centre's overall performanceAct as the Centre Manager in the Centre Managers absence,



including across other sites within the Boroondara contract as needed.Communicate/liaise directly with Council on contract related matters and incidentsThis position is Permanent - Full time with hourly rate of $***** + Super + Y Benefits.About youAs Assistant Manager, you will be a considered decision maker and will be able to manage a multitude of tasks utilising good time management and organisational skills.
Additionally, you will be:Able to present the YMCA to the local community as well as provide leadership and vision for the facility and its staff.Able to work both independently and as part of the leisure team.An excellent oral and written communicator, you will be able to work in partnership with the City of Boroondarateam as well as other community groups to develop programs and services to meet the needs of the community.Self-motivated, able to engage staff and the community and will be able to drive the business, while maintaining the assets under your control.Organised and have a demonstrated ability to engage staff and improve business performance, with strong project management skills.Focused on the customer experience and cultivate a culture of continuous learning amongst the staff teams.Well acquainted with general business and financial acumen.Be able to foster a culture of safety at the facility and have experience managing riskAligned with the Y's values is critical for this role.Qualifications & ExperienceExperience in a similar leadership role within the Sports & Recreation industry will be highly regarded but if you have significant team leadership and budget management experience from a different industry, we would love to hear from you.Tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Business Management, or other related field will be highly regardedPrevious leadership experience is essentialHLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary ResuscitationHLTAID011 Provide First AidAt the Y Victoria, we are committed to empowering all Children and Young People to feel secure and be safe.
